How quickly expectations shift

A few years ago, tapping a credit card on a card reader was an incredibly user friendly experience, and felt like the future of payments.

Now I think it’s weird whenever anyone doesn’t take Apple Pay. Since I don’t drive much anymore, I rarely even carry my wallet.

Expectations can shift quickly. I still remember the bizarre feeling I got getting in a stranger’s car the first time I took an Uber. Now, many of the recent events I’ve been to have suggested ride-sharing as the best mode of transportation.

Disruption often sneaks up on us because what’s acceptable in our culture doesn’t change overnight—until it does. And then it feels like it was that way all along.

What’s a behavior you take for granted now that just a few years ago would have seemed foolish, bizarre, or even absurd?
